We spent years in capital markets watching people make bad investment decisions, not because they were stupid, but because nobody explained things properly.
(We decided to fix that. You're welcome 😄)
BursaNews (马股报报看) is founded by two Malaysians with 10+ years each in Malaysia's capital markets, investment banking, audit, and valuation.
During our years in capital markets, we noticed the same pattern: most retail investors were making decisions based on tips and rumours, not because they lacked intelligence, but because nobody had shown them how to read the real signals.
We know how to read financial figures inside-out because it was our job. We understand the logic behind every Bursa announcement, corporate exercise, and quarterly result. And we thought: why not share that, simply, honestly, with a bit of humour?
To minimise the gap in financial information interpretation, and educate everyday Malaysians to see the market the way professionals do. Not by giving stock tips. By giving the knowledge to think for themselves.
(Also, because financial content is way too boring and we wanted to fix that too 😂)
Most finance content creators you see online hold an MR (Markets Representative) licence, the basic licence required to talk about investments publicly. We have that too. But we went a step further.
What does this mean for you? Preparing and reading Bursa announcements was literally our day job. When a listed company makes a move, a rights issue, a private placement, an acquisition, we understand the “why” behind it. Not just what the numbers say on the surface, but what the company is trying to achieve, and what's happening behind the curtain that most people on the street never get to see.
We’re not trying to brag about qualifications, plenty of qualified people produce terrible financial content. What we’re saying is: the insights in every BursaNews report come from people who have sat in those boardrooms, written those announcements, and advised on those transactions. That experience shapes how we read the market, and now we bring it to you, in plain language.
(Who gave up corporate salaries to explain Bursa to you. You're welcome again 😂)
