How Rakuten Trade Is Regulated

Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd is a joint venture between Rakuten Securities Inc. (a subsidiary of Japan's Rakuten Group) and Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad. It is regulated by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) under a Capital Markets Services Licence.

Client funds are held separately from Rakuten Trade's own finances through Kenanga Investment Bank as custodian, and your CDS (Central Depository System) holdings for Bursa Malaysia stocks are protected under Bursa Malaysia's own depository framework — the same protection that applies across all Bursa-regulated brokers.

Rakuten Trade Fees

Rakuten Trade uses a flat, capped brokerage structure for Bursa trades rather than a straight percentage, which keeps costs low on small and mid-size trades.

Trade ValueBrokerage Fee
RM0 – RM100.00RM1.00
RM100.01 – RM9,999.99RM2.88
RM10,000.00 – RM99,999.990.1% of trading value
Above RM100,000RM100.00

Plus Bursa Malaysia's clearing fee (0.03%, up to RM1,000 per contract) and government stamp duty (RM1 per RM1,000 of contract value, up to RM1,000 for shares and RM200 for rights, warrants and REITs), which apply whichever broker you use. Since 1 October 2025, 8% SST applies to brokerage on Bursa trades in REITs, ETFs, rights, warrants and structured warrants. US stock brokerage is 0.1% of trading value, minimum USD0.88 and maximum USD25. Source: rakutentrade.my/fees, checked 4 October 2026. Always confirm live rates before trading.
